Coindu operates exclusively in the automotive components sector through the production and supply of natural leather, fabric, and PVC upholstery for seats, as well as interior accessories such as armrests, headrests, and door panels. Founded in 1988, the company initially focused mainly on producing large bags for various applications. In 1992, it invested in the construction of its own facilities in Joane, V. N. de Famalicão, starting dedicated production for the automotive industry. It was within a context of high standards of quality, flexibility, and competitiveness—key characteristics of the automotive industry—that Coindu’s activity developed to the present day. However, from 2000 onwards, Coindu undertook an intense growth process, establishing a strong position in the European market and securing an important role within its business niche. In January 2001, it opened a new manufacturing unit in Arcos de Valdevez, driven by new contracts and clients, which fueled strong business growth and doubled its turnover. In 2003, Coindu achieved its first certification under the ISO TS 16949 quality standard. By mid-2005, Coindu began its internationalization process in production, opening a factory in Arad, Romania, starting with 150 employees. Coindu continued its internationalization strategy in 2015 with the opening of a new plant in Mexico. Additionally, the company secured new direct supply agreements with two globally renowned brands. In 2019, Coindu was acquired by the Richina Group, maintaining a modern and international management approach and believing that the competence and commitment of its employees are key to the company’s continued success. That same year, Coindu expanded its business to China.
