The bluesign® standard offers an independent approval system for the textile industry, considering the entire production process, minimizing environmental impact, and protecting human health. It also helps reduce production costs, increase competitiveness and innovation, benefiting the business.
Consumers are increasingly aware not only of their own environmental impact but also of the impact of the products and companies they use. As a result, consumers expect their products to provide transparent value chains, high quality, harmless credentials, and environmentally safe standards.
The bluesign® screening tackles the problem at its root. Instead of focusing on testing your final product, it analyzes all input flows – from raw materials and chemical components to water and energy resources. Each component is evaluated, eliminating potentially harmful substances even before production begins.
The standard is built around five principles:
Resource Productivity
Aims for maximum quality and added value for your product using the least resources and the lowest possible environmental impact.
Consumer Safety
Consumer safety not only ensures that your fabrics are high-quality and free from health risks, but also guarantees that all sustainability principles are applied throughout your production process.
Air Emissions
Air emissions must comply with strictly controlled limits throughout your entire production chain. Using low-emission components and optimizing energy use reduces your CO₂ footprint.
Water Emissions
Controlling water emissions aims to return purified water to the natural cycle, causing the least possible pollution to rivers, lakes, and seas. This can be achieved by using environmentally safe components and optimizing production and wastewater treatment processes.
Occupational Health and Safety
This involves the health and safety of your employees in the textile industry. Local weaknesses can be identified and improved in accordance with regulations.
