Objective

Created in 1992 and recognized throughout Europe and worldwide, the EU Ecolabel certifies products with a guaranteed low environmental impact, independently verified.

To receive the EU Ecolabel, goods and services must meet high environmental standards throughout their entire life cycle: from raw material extraction, through production and distribution, to disposal. The label also encourages companies to develop innovative products that are durable, easy to repair, and recyclable.

Through the EU Ecolabel, the industry can offer truly reliable and environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional products, empowering consumers to make informed choices and play an active role in the green transition.
Choosing and promoting products with the EU Ecolabel genuinely contributes to the greatest environmental challenges of our time identified in the European Green Deal, such as achieving climate neutrality by 2050, transitioning to a circular economy, and reaching the ambition of zero pollution for a toxic-free environment. By joining or increasing the visibility of the EU Ecolabel system, stakeholders can also participate in relevant European Commission initiatives, such as the Sustainable Consumption Pledge.

The EU Ecolabel is a globally renowned voluntary scheme that promotes goods and services that clearly demonstrate environmental excellence, based on standardized processes and scientific evidence.
The operation of the EU Ecolabel is defined in the official Regulation of the European Parliament and Council. It is managed by the European Commission and Member States according to priorities set in the Strategic Work Plan for the EU Ecolabel.

The EU Ecolabel is the only ISO 14024 Type I eco-label scheme across the EU. Recognized throughout Europe, it is multi-criteria and addresses the main environmental impacts of products across their entire life cycle, from raw material extraction to disposal.
The EU Ecolabel is third-party verified, meaning independent experts are responsible for verifying compliance with the EU Ecolabel criteria.
