Through a multi-step process, each individual ingredient of the chemical product is verified to ensure it meets legal requirements and is not harmful to human health. Brands and manufacturers value OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT as credible proof of sustainable textile and leather production.
Once a year, OEKO-TEX® updates the list of prohibited substances and limit values, incorporating new scientific findings or legal requirements.

What does the certificate indicate?
The ECO PASSPORT certification system is designed for process chemical and chemical compound manufacturers. Chemicals for leather and textiles certified under ECO PASSPORT are tested for harmful substances at critical concentrations, as listed in the ECO PASSPORT standard. The label also provides transparent proof of which items meet the criteria for environmentally responsible textile and leather production. Once a year, OEKO-TEX® updates prohibited substances and limit values, incorporating new scientific findings or legal requirements.
