OCS textile certification logo

Objective

There is a growing consumer awareness to purchase products containing materials from organic agriculture, which is driving the textile industry to focus increasingly on organic fibers.

The Organic Content Standard (OCS) is a voluntary international standard that establishes requirements for third-party certification of certified organic materials and the supply chain.

The OCS (Organic Content Standard) verifies the presence and amount of organic material in a final product. Additionally, OCS tracks the flow of a raw material from its source to the finished product. This process is certified by an accredited third party.

All certified companies may use the OCS logo for commercial and marketing purposes, depending on the product’s organic content:

  • When a product contains 95% to 100% organic material, the OCS 100 logo can be used.

  • When a product contains 5% to 95% organic material, only the OCS Blended logo may be used.

The OCS relies on third-party verification to confirm that a final product contains the exact amount of organically grown material. It provides an independent, transparent, consistent, and comprehensive assessment of organic content claims in products.
