Why this matters

Why fashion brands still go to textile fairs in 2026

Sourcing has moved online but fairs have not become obsolete. They have become more selective. The brands attending today are serious buyers, not researchers. If your factory relationship started at a fair, it usually started better than one that started with a cold email.

  • Touch fabric before you commit to itNo sample swatch or screen can replace holding the finished material, and fairs let you compare dozens of mills in one room
  • Factories compete for your attentionAt a fair they come to you, making it far easier to evaluate options than cold-emailing 30 factories and managing the inbox
  • Trends move two seasons ahead of retailWhat you see at Premiere Vision in September is what your competitors will be selling in 18 months
  • Portuguese factories exhibit internationallyFactories from our group exhibit at Premiere Vision, Munich Fabric Start, and Intertex Portugal. You can meet them at any of these events.

Portuguese textile events worth attending

If your production is in Portugal, or you are seriously considering it, these are the in-country events where you can meet factories on their home ground and see the full production ecosystem in context.

Intertex Portugal Braga textile fair
Intertex Portugal October 2026 · Braga The flagship annual fair for the Portuguese textile sector. Factories from Braga, Porto, Guimaraes, Barcelos, and Vila Nova de Famalicao exhibit here. The best single event for meeting Portuguese manufacturers in person, especially for fabric, knitwear, and garment production.
MODTISSIMO Porto textile fair
MODTISSIMO September 2026 · Porto Porto's international fabric fair, focused on wovens, knitwear, and accessories. More international in positioning than Intertex, with exhibitors from Portugal and other European textile countries. A strong first introduction to Portuguese fabric sourcing if you are based in northern Europe.
Moda Lisboa fashion week Portugal
Moda Lisboa Spring and Autumn 2026 · Lisbon Portugal's official fashion week. Primarily a designer showcase rather than a sourcing event, but increasingly relevant for brands interested in Portuguese creative talent and brand-to-brand collaboration. Several factories from our group partner with Moda Lisboa designers as part of their marketing activity.
ATP CITEVE textile networking events Portugal
ATP and CITEVE Industry Events Occasional · Porto region Periodic industry networking events and showrooms organised by Portuguese textile associations ATP and CITEVE. Accessible to verified fashion brands on request. Useful for meeting factory directors in smaller settings than a full trade fair floor, and for understanding the supply chain structure of northern Portugal.

How to get the most out of a textile fair

Three things that separate brands who leave a fair with a real supplier from brands who leave with a bag full of brochures and no follow-up.

1 Come with your tech pack or a clear brief Factory reps at fairs talk to hundreds of people. If you can hand over a document, even a one-page brief with your product type, quantity range, and target price, you will get a more useful conversation and a more accurate follow-up quote.
2 Focus on 5 to 8 booths, not the whole floor At Premiere Vision or Munich Fabric Start, there are thousands of exhibitors. You can't cover them. Research exhibitor lists beforehand, shortlist factories that match your category and region, and block 30-minute slots with the right people. Focused conversations are always better than quick passes.
3 Follow up within 48 hours Factory reps return from fairs to hundreds of business card piles. If you don't email within 48 hours with a clear brief and a specific question, you will not get a reply for weeks. The follow-up email is more important than the conversation at the booth.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions from brands planning their first textile fair visit.

Do Portuguese factories from your group exhibit at these fairs?
Yes, several factories from our group exhibit at Premiere Vision Paris, Munich Fabric Start, and Intertex Portugal. If you are attending one of these fairs and want an introduction to specific factories who will be exhibiting, get in contact before the fair and we can arrange it.
Is it worth attending a fair before choosing a manufacturer?
It depends on where you are in the process. If you are at the research stage, building your shortlist and testing what is possible in different categories, then yes, fairs compress weeks of cold emails into two days. If you already have a specific brief and product in mind, a direct connection to a factory from our group is usually faster and more targeted than attending a show.
Which fair is best for sourcing from Portugal specifically?
Intertex Portugal in Braga is the most concentrated Portuguese event. Internationally, factories from our group are well represented at Premiere Vision Paris and Munich Fabric Start. Both show a meaningful cluster of Portuguese fabric suppliers and garment manufacturers. If you are in Germany or central Europe, Munich Fabric Start is the most efficient first visit to meet them.
What is the difference between Premiere Vision and Texworld?
Both run in Paris in September, one day apart, and many buyers attend both. Premiere Vision is more curated, with a higher entry bar for exhibitors, stronger positioning around premium and sustainable materials, and better representation for luxury and mid-market fashion. Texworld / Apparel Sourcing Paris covers more volume-oriented sourcing with a broader range of price points and geographies. For a brand starting out, Texworld is less intimidating. For established brands making quality-focused decisions, Premiere Vision is the benchmark.
Are fair dates confirmed for 2026?
All dates on this page are confirmed or announced as of June 2026, based on official show websites. Dates marked "(est.)" are our best estimates based on typical annual scheduling. Confirm at the official show website before booking travel.
How is your group different from a sourcing agency?
We are a group of factories based in Portugal, not a sourcing agency. When you contact us, you connect directly with manufacturers who produce your garments. We make the match between your brief and the right factory in our group, and then step back. You deal directly with the factory from that point on. No middleman layer, no commission on production.
